Prep for the coast
Salt crystals and fine sand settle deep in bare concrete. Before coating, we grind the slab to open it up and vacuum everything out. Where efflorescence, the white crust that shows up on damp concrete, is present, we remove it and test the moisture level so we can choose the right primer.
The floor system
- Moisture-tolerant primer when testing calls for it
- A pigmented base coat
- An optional chip broadcast to hide sand and add texture
- A tough clear topcoat
Built for beach gear
Wet boards, dripping wetsuits and salty bikes are part of everyday life in Redondo. A sealed floor sheds that water and wipes clean, and a textured top keeps it from getting slippery. Wall racks for boards and bikes make the floor even easier to keep clear.
Townhomes and shared garages
In many townhome complexes, the HOA has rules about work hours, colors and noise. We follow them and can provide product information for approval.
Silica safety
We use grinders with dust extraction because concrete dust contains silica. OSHA's guidance on silica explains why it matters.
How soon can I park?
About five to seven days with epoxy; faster with a polyaspartic top.
Will damp concrete cause problems?
We test and choose a primer to handle it.
